HARBOR HOUSE 400
RIDE FOR NEW BEGINNINGS

Dear Friend,

Re: 2008 Harbor House 400 -12th Annual Ride for New Beginnings Application

Thank you for participating in the 2007 Harbor House 400 - Ride for New Beginnings. Your participation helped make it a magnificent success. Our seventy-five five and three day riders and support team, together with the 40 one-day riders, raised over $150,000. This has set an all time high by $50,000!

The Ride Committee has planned our 12th annual ride to raise the critical funds needed for Ocean's Harbor House - the only shelter in Ocean County helping abused and runaway teens. This charity ride is the major fundraising event for this shelter. The 2008 Ride will loop through Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and back to New Jersey. We will again offer 3 ride options for this event - a five day, three day and one day ride.

The 2008 Ride begins on Wednesday, July 9 when 5 day participants will begin their trek from Barnegat, heading to Delaware. In addition to the 5-day ride, we will offer a 3-day ride, transporting 3-day participants on July 10 to join the ride in Middletown, DE. Those riders will begin cycling on July 11. We will once again offer a 1-day fun ride on July 13th where participants will start out from Windward Beach and join the last leg of the ride with all the other participants to finish together at the culmination ceremonies. Ceremonies will be conducted at Windward Beach Park in Brick, NJ.

Summarized details of the 2008 ride options are as follows:

  • 5-day, approximately 400-miles, departing July 9 on bicycles, cycling concludes July 13.
  • 3-day, approximately 220 miles, departing Toms River July 10 via ride-sponsored transportation to Middletown, DE. Cycling begins July 11 and concludes July 13.
  • 1-day, 25 mile fun ride on July 13, to and from Windward Beach Park.

All interested candidates must complete the application and send a non-refundable registration fee by March 1, 2008. All applications that are postmarked after March 1, 2008 will need to include a $25.00 late registration fee.

All checks should be made payable to Ocean's Harbor House Foundation, Inc. Checks are to be mailed to:

Ocean's Harbor House Foundation
Attn: HH400 - Ride For New Beginnings
PO BOx 1714
Toms River, NJ 08754

Please note, selection of participants is limited based on many factors, of which the ability and willingness to contribute to the ride's financial success are the most important. All riders must be at least 18 years of age and all three and five day participants are required to raise $750 in pledges. One-day participants have no pledge requirements; however they are encouraged to raise $100. The cost of hotel accommodations and transportation is paid by Ocean's Harbor House Foundation, Inc. All other expenses such as meals and phone calls are the responsibility of each individual on the ride. You will be notified of your acceptance by mid-March. Once accepted, your registration is not refundable.

All new riders and support team members must (and veteran riders and support team members should):

  • Participate in two mandatory training rides
  • Attend an orientation meeting in March, 2008, date and time to be determined.
  • Attend a final ride meeting in June, date and time to be determined.

We look forward to your participation and to another safe and even more successful ride. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call me on 732-284-0094 (email - bianchi_bill@hotmail.com), or Kathy Mallette at 732-928-5576 (email - kmallett@optonline.net).

Sincerely,

Kathy Mallette
