THE 12TH ANNUAL
HARBOR HOUSE 400
Ride For New Beginnings
July 9 - July 13, 2008

Ride PictureThis dynamic bicycle ride takes cyclists and support team members on a scenic journey to raise critical funds for Ocean's Harbor House. This is the only agency of its kind in Ocean and Monmouth County which helps homeless, abused and runaway children and youth. This charity ride is the primary fundraiser for Ocean's Harbor House which assists over 8,000 local youth and families annually. This year promises to be the best ride yet. The ride offers something for riders of all experience levels, from the novice to the seasoned veteran.

11TH ANNUAL RIDE A HUGE SUCCESS!

Windward Beach CelebrationThis year's ride began bright and early on July 11th. Forty-eight riders and eighteen support and gear (SAG) people left the parking lot of St. Mary's in Barnegat, accompanied by cheers from family, staff and youth of OHH and coverage by News 12, to begin their five day journey. This journey would bring them to Chincoteague, Virginia where they would spend the night before heading out the next day to begin their trip home. They were joined in Chincoteague by and additional seven people for this return trip. On day five, July 15th, another 27 riders and 8 SAG completed a one day ride and met up with the five and three day riders for a joyous welcome home celebration at Windward Beach Park in Brick.

Riders and SAG were publicly recognized by being presented with a certificate of appreciation at the celebration. A special recognition award was presented to Bill Limpert Sr. for his tenth year of participating in the ride. (He joins five others who achieved this milestone last year).

At the celebration, everyone had the opportunity to enjoy food and products donated by local restaurants and businesses. Applebee's staff was on hand to grill their hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken for the crowd as well. There were games, a kiddie car wash and a clown to entertain the children. Musical entertainment was provided throughout the event by the Cantaffappella Rock and Roll Chorus, Under Our Influence, Retrospect and Debbie Ippolito sang an amazing rendition of the National Anthem.

Many people put much time and energy into the ride and the welcome home celebration to make it a successful event for OHH. So a great big thank you to the ride committee, riders, SAG people, sponsors, folks who supported the riders and SAG, those who donated food, products, services and vehicles, volunteers, staff and anyone else we may have not identified above.

COME RIDE FOR A WEEK, A WEEKEND, OR JUST THE DAY,
AND YOU CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD.
