HOW TO VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AND SKILLSOur volunteers play a critical role in the operation of Ocean's Harbor House, on many levels. Board Of Directors - comprised of business and community leaders who assume full responsibility for the overall operations of the agency including fiscal matters, fundraising, program development and staff development. Our Board holds committee meetings every month, and full Board meetings every two months. See our Board List for our current Board of Directors. Fund Raising/Special Events Volunteers - our Bike Tour is manned completely by volunteers who plan the entire 400 mile trek, help secure donations and materials, and provide support crew for this 5-day trek. Shelter Volunteers - youth and adults who help with a variety of household and program tasks including cooking, food shopping, tutoring, recreation assistants, computer instructors, office assistance, household repairs and maintenance tasks. Outreach Volunteers - youth and adults who are interested in helping to participate in prevention and community education activities, including manning resource fairs, helping with public speaking activities, street outreach support, and office tasks, Special Projects - youth and adults who want to help with a special project like painting a room in one of our facilities, working on our shelter's landscaping project, raking leaves, helping with special holidays, (like Christmas and Thanksgiving), completing large special house projects (like Home Depot building our handicapped accessible ramp at the shelter). You can give as little as a few hours a week, or a few hours a month. We need volunteers during the day, in the evenings or on the weekends. To ask for more information regarding a specific volunteer component, please contact our Administrative Office at 732-929-9096 or click here.
