Ocean’s Harbor House provides shelter, support, and services for vulnerable youth, enabling them to unlock their potential by learning skills that empower them to build successful lives, relationships, and futures.
Emergency Youth Shelter
Our 12-bed shelter provides a safe haven for youth in crisis, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. With a goal of family reunification, when safe and appropriate, our staff works closely with parents and extended family members to create a partnership that provides long-term family stability.
The program is licensed as an Emergency Children’s Shelter by the NJ Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). The program also meets federal guidelines established by the US Department of Health & Human Services and Family & Youth Services Bureau.
Our shelter program is a small ranch house nestled in a quiet neighborhood. The program provides voluntary services staffed by caring counselors who help youth feel safe and supported as they begin to work through their crisis. Residents of the shelter are active participants in the services they receive. The Shelter provides short-term, solutions-based crisis interventions in a home-like atmosphere.
Our core services include emergency shelter for youth ages 10-19, food, clothing and referrals to medical services. In addition, the program provides drop-in services, counseling, education, prevention, and case management services. Youth, parents, police, schools and other community agencies can access the shelter through the 24-hour hotline. The shelter is staffed around the clock so we can provide immediate assistance to youth and families in crisis.
Youth who pose a danger to themselves or others may require referrals for alternate placement services, but our program may still provide a variety of non-residential support.
