Your Giving Matters
By contributing to Ocean’s Harbor House, you are demonstrating your belief that all youth have a right to be safe today and empowered tomorrow. Donations help fund shelter, support and services for vulnerable youth in Monmouth and Ocean counties who are homeless, runaway, neglected and abandoned.
Nearly 90% of your contribution funds these services.
Despite the hurdles of the pandemic, the agency has provided a level of service to our youth at levels consistent to our history. As always, our supporters helped us get through this difficult time, forming a solid bedrock for our mission. Your generosity has allowed us to provide a home to young people when few alternatives exist. We are grateful you are a part of the Ocean’s Harbor House family.

Mailing Address: Ocean’s Harbor House, 808 Conifer Street, Toms River, NJ 08753
Please request for your name and address to be included. We recommend that you contact Ocean’s Harbor House to inform us of your gift, so we can thank you for your generosity. Telephone (732) 929-0096, extension 205.
A retirement plan can be a tax-efficient and simple way of including Ocean’s Harbor House in your estate plan. The best method is to name a charity as a beneficiary on your plan’s beneficiary designation form. Because charities do not pay income taxes on the donations they receive, distributions to charities will avoid being taxed as income. Your plan administrator can provide you with the appropriate forms.
Giving from your IRA
The IRA Charitable Rollover benefit is now permanent. If you are above age 70 ½, you can contribute (up to $100,000 annually) directly from your IRA account to a charity of your choice, like Ocean’s Harbor House. Your gift would count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) and it would not be considered taxable income to you. You can call your IRA administrator to discuss a fund transfer.
The Harbor House Legacy Society
The Harbor House Legacy Society was formed in recognition of the growing number of individuals and families of all economic backgrounds who have expressed interest in designating Ocean’s Harbor House as a beneficiary in their wills, in a paid-up life insurance policy or by establishing a charitable trust that provides payments to themselves or a family member for a number of years before the remaining balance is donated to Ocean’s Harbor House. Donors may set aside a dollar amount or leave a percentage of their assets to fund programs and services.
If you have a life insurance policy that you no longer need because of a change in your life circumstances, you can give a paid-up policy to Ocean’s Harbor House, or even a policy on which you are still paying premiums. You can irrevocably designate Ocean’s Harbor House as the owner and beneficiary of your policy and you may be entitled to a generous charitable income tax deduction. Or, you can name Ocean’s Harbor House as an irrevocable beneficiary of your policy but retain ownership of the policy itself. You can call or write to your insurance company to request a form to make this change of beneficiary.
Donate in tribute to, or in honor of, a family member, friend, or colleague. Please contact us for more information. We will notify them in writing that you have made a gift (not the amount) in their honor. We recommend that you consult your legal and/or tax advisor for more information and to determine if a charitable gift of life insurance, a planned gift or a gift from a retirement plan is right for you.
Income tax deductions are available for the fair market value of donated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, rather than on their cost basis. Giving securities that have grown in value bypasses the capital gains tax that would be due if you simply sold them. Selling securities that have diminished in value and then gifting the proceeds to Ocean’s Harbor House allows you to take the loss on your taxes while benefiting from a charitable tax deduction, as well.
Employer Matching Gift
Many employers’ matching gift programs will match any charitable contributions made by employees to a 501(c)(3). If your company is eligible, request a matching gift from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift may be doubled! Some companies also will match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
A home, farm, office building, or undeveloped lot might be donated to provide Ocean’s Harbor House with proceeds from the property’s sale. This type of gift can also offer you a charitable tax deduction, help avoid capital gains tax on the property, and reduce worry for your heirs.
Donate in memory of a loved one. Please contact us for more information.
